Day 14 Mexico City (30 July)

(Written at the Youth Hostle in Mexico City on 30 July)

Wake up and go have good shower and breakfast before washing our clothes on the roof. Went out to the police station to lay a claim of missing camera. Jansie blesses the district to become a place of worhip, following something she saw outside the window that reminded her of the need of the heart for the Father. Then went two stores down the road to the pharmacy where we bough vitamines the previous night. An WOW the attetndend reaches into his cupboard and produces the camera the we had just officially claimed to be lost.

To the bus station to buy tickets to Mexico border at Tapachula. They dont accept credit cards so to the Airport (not too far away) to change money. At aiport we try to get arrival stamp for Jansie in her passport since the bus did not stop when she entered Mexico. But to no avail since we had to pay USD 100, but the officials suggested that we try exiting without a stamp since USD100 is too much for just one day left in the country. Changed money at good rate and returened to bustation and bought tickets. Then bought very tasty frozen yoghurt. Back at the Rose Zone where the hostel is, we bought some fresh fruit and gave some to a little beggar girl.

Back at hostel read about the history of Mexico for the rest of the afternoon. Dinner and sleep to follow.

Day 13 Bus - Mexico City (29 July)

(Written at the Youth Hostle in Mexico City on 30 July)

After respectively a good busride and flight for Jansie and Eugenie, they meet at the Hostel in Mexico City. Drink coffie and go for a walk. Do sightseeing and loose camara. Eat really yummy street hamburgers and realise that camera is missing. Return to Hostel to asure that camera is not left there, but no, the camera is really missing. Start to pray for the person that has the camera. Deside to go to the police in the moring so that we can make a claim at insurance. Go to bed. Both Eugenie and Jansie dream the whole night about the camera and that it is not really missing.

Day 12 Bus El Paso - Chihuahua - Bus (28 July)

(Written at the Youth Hostle in Mexico City on 30 July)

The only thing that stood out was the five hour wait in the very hot Chihuahua that didnt seem to want to come. And for a thunderstorm that was delaying its arrival with much passion. Jansie was very tired and could only find one person in the whole place that could speak a few words of English and that could explain that the bus had broken and would be late. She was waiting for the next bus too. The quantum of solice was that the very bus we waited for was the pinicle of luxury in the bus world and with almost completely reclining seats Jansie slept for the rest of the night very well.

Day 11 Camarillo - L A - Bus (27 July)

(Written at the Youth Hostle in Mexico City on 30 July)

We greeted the MacCoy´s with sadness but deep gratitude and drove to the LA airport where we dropped the car and took the bus to terminal where Cecilia was supposed to fly from. She checked in and we then we then went down to the other side of the airport where Rene checked in and we had a time to say goodbye. It was a sad but deeply fulfilling experince to be able to thank God for the love and grace he had given us for each other on the journey. We really felt that we had had experienced a bit of heaven on earth. Rene went though the gates to fly to NJ. Jansie and Cecilia greated at the other terminal.

Jansie waited for and hour in the hot LA sun for the nr 42 bus that would take her to downtown LA. The busride took and hour and it was a precious cultural experience that money cannot buy. At the main train station she learned that the Greyhound busterminal was a few blocks away. She shared a taxi with a young french tourist. When the taxi driver tried to rip them off they fought together as if they had known each other for years. But the friendship was shortlived because soon after they borded different busses and Jansie was on her way to El Paso.

Day 10 Camarillo – Sunday service at the Jubilee Church (26 July)

(Written at Mac& Cathy’s in Camarillo 27 July)

Mac and Cathy are on the leadership team of their church in Camarillo and they had arranged for us to share about the journey at their meeting. It was the largest congregation to which the Lord has ever opened the door for us to share the vision with. We had a foretaste of the open heaven over the congregation and the deep understanding they would have of the vision in the intercession meeting before the church meeting where they prayed for the pastor and for us.

They gave us 10 minutes between the worship and the main message. We shared about the highways and the congregation received the message with open arms. The pastor had brought a stone from the beach for us, and he asked Jansie to lead the congregation in prayer for Israel, the USA and the nations. After the service we stayed in the sanctuary to talk to people. We were busy praying and receiving prayer until 2pm.

The rest of the afternoon was devoted to admin. It took us a while to come to a place of agreement about what the Spirit was directing Rene to do from here. In conclusion we decided that it would be better if she goes back to New Jersey with Cecilia to rest and recover, rather than staying in LA, doing the backpacking and gallery thing.

Day 9 San Francisco to Camarillo (25 July)

(Written at Mac& Cathy’s in Camarillo 27 July)

We couldn’t find any form of COFFEE driving out of San Francisco. We were still struggling to wake up by the time we reached Santa Cruz 2 hours later. Sarie did her job well and brought us to Jean Acree’s home without a glitch.

Jean and Denise (her pastor’s wife) had been praying while they waited for us and as we walked into her home we felt the overwhelming presence of the Holy Spirit. To our delight they ministered to our weary beings and spent hours bathing us in the river’s of living water that was flowing from their innermost beings. Jean blessed us with a wonderful lunch and we were refreshed and ready to continue on our journey to Camarillo. We did not want to leave this oasis of the Spirit in Jean’s house. Each one of us took with us a special blessing and a deeper understanding of the body of Christ Jesus and that the Lord can package prayer warriors in unexpected parcels.

For our 8 hour journey to Camarillo, near Los Angeles, we decided to follow Sarie’s suggestion of the shorter faster route, causing us to miss most of the nice coastal views of California. But it was a good drive, compared to the confused rush of the previous day, and we came to Camarillo at about 9:30pm.

Mac and Cathy McCoy were waiting for us with dinner. It was like coming home. Their abundantly generous hospitality and the ease with which they made room for us, in their hearts and in their home, reminded us of heaven.

Day 8 Portland to San Francisco (24 July)

(Written at Mac& Cathy’s in Camarillo 27 July)

We greeted Dan before he left for work in the morning, and shortly after that joined Ellen for a wonderful breakfast. Her soda bread and egg quiche was delicious. As we were running around packing and getting ready, Ellen packed us a special pick-nick bag with lots of goodies that kept us going all the way to San Francisco! Ellen also gave us a stone from her garden, and we were all a bit teary when we said goodbye.

Sarie (the GPS) had her wits about her this morning and she managed to get us out of Portland on our way south in no time. Along the way Cecilia an Rene felt board with the monotonous scenery, and Jansie suddenly remembered that this was the day we were supposed to visit Cape Mendocino, the westernmost tip of the lower 48 states of the US. We discussed the matter with Sarie and she managed to put us on route 199 that took us through awe inspiring mountains, valleys and giant redwood forests.

We soon realized that our time budget was unrealistic! We did not have a map apart from Sarie, and misjudged how long it would take us to make this detour. But it was all worth it because we discovered a piece of heaven on earth. When we reached the “end of the earth” the mist had come in from the sea and the route we took brought us up a hill above the mist. We stood there praying and proclaiming God’s greatness as we watched the sunset over the sea of clouds before us. Rene blew the shofar and to our surprise and delight the cows grazing nearby came running to witness. For a moment in time we looked into the eyes of creation and saw the confirmation of the longing for the return of the King.

From there we still had 5 hours drive to San Francisco and it was a great relief to see the Golden Gate bridge at 2:30am! Hamish, Jansie’s cousin who was hosting us that night, had to put us up in his own room, and he went to sleep at a friend’s house. We found the key in the fire-extinguisher’s box by the front door and collapsed on his bed only to wake up 3 and a half hours later to continue with our journey!

Day 7 Vancouver to Portland (23 July)

(Written at the Olsen’s in Portland, Oregon on 24 July)

We woke up after only 4 hours of sleep to get ready and catch the last bus for this part of the Highway.

On the bus we spoke Afrikaans, as usual, and after a while the man behind us asked us what language we were speaking. We explained and a very interesting conversation ensued and kept going till we reached Seattle. His name was Bruce, a middle-aged Canadian English teacher who has a deep understanding of art and society. Rene showed him her portfolio, and he immediately recognized that there was “something from above” in what she was doing. On carefully exploring this we found out that he was of Jewish decent, although his parents were atheists and that he had developed his own understanding of “The Big WOW”. The Spirit started moving and by the end of the conversation he allowed us to pray for him that the Spirit of God would guide him to the Way to his Father - “The Big WOW”. We were all touched so deeply it was hard to say goodbye when we reached Seattle.

In Seattle we got the car and drove to Portland with Sarie (Cecilia’s nick-name for the wise little lady in the GPS). In general we did ok with Sarie, but we had a few little miss-understandings, especially in the final few miles, causing us to circle to Olsen’s house a few times like birds wanting to land…

Dan and Ellen Olsen (my Aunt Miekie’s guest sister from the time when she was in the US and her husband) fed us the most healthy and tasty meal we have had so far on the trip, while we sat on their porch enjoying a beautiful summer evening in Portland. Their hospitality was like coming home and every little need was met.

Day 6 Prince George to Vancouver (22 Julie)

(Written at the Olsen’s in Portland, Oregon on 24 July)

Breakfast at Laura’s B&B is something like I’ve never seen anywhere before. She gave us a menu and asked us to make our selection in the evening, and then proceeded to produce culinary works of art that left us very satisfied.

After breakfast she drove us to the bus station on her way to work, and showed us various things along the way, like her church and the various neighborhoods. She also explained that all the dead pine trees we were seeing (we also noticed them along the way from Whitehorse the day before) had died of the pine beetle. The pine beetle seem to be taking over because they haven’t had a cold enough winter to kill them in the last 10 years.

The bus to Vancouver passed through the by now familiar scenery of lakes, forests and farmer’s fields. In the afternoon we entered a very reap and spectacular valley, almost like a canyon, and for more than 2 hours the road followed the river side showing us the most beautifull vistas.

Cecilia met a young man called Kevin on the bus. He was from Vancouver and had grandparents who were pastors, but he was not quite sure what he believed. She shared with him about the Lord, and when we arrived in Vancouver we asked him if it was ok for us to take a stone from his home town. He agreed and, to the great distress of the Greyhound staff, he found us a stone at the bus lot. Please pray for him that the Spirit would lead him to the Truth.

The Backpackers where we had booked the night was just around the corner from the station. Some of us had our darkest moments so far in the anticipation and reception of the night in the backpackers, but it turned out quite alright. We had our own little room, and we could enjoy a beautiful view of the Vancouver skyline from our window.

It was the annual fireworks night in Vancouver and we really tried to get to see some of this, but only saw the empty streets and restaurants on our way to the town centre. Then suddenly the roads where flooded with many thousands of people rushing from where the fireworks had been to where they would find their transport to go home. The city was filled with a young, almost carnival like atmosphere as we has dinner at a rooftop hamburger place. We did some soul-searching there till 1am, and then returned to the backpacker’s for a very short night’s rest.

Day 5 Night on the bus - Prince George (21 July)

Written at B&B in Prince George (21 July)

The night on the bus was surprisingly easy, and time somehow seemed to fly - it must have been all the prayers for traveling mercies going up from everyone at home.

Jansie spoke to Niel, a young man on the bus, who confirmed that he wanted to give his life to the Lord. Jansie prayed with him and prayed that the Spirit would baptize him so he can hear God's voice clearly as He guides him through his life. She then explained the WH vision and Niel prayed for the group and the success of the journey. He also blessed all the stones we had collected on the bus route from Whitehorse. Cecilia then gave him Max's bible. We were all touched deeply because of the amazing way God works.

Along the way Lalie, Jansie's mother, managed to get a moment when we had reception, to call us from South Africa. She had been praying for our time in Canada, and felt that the Lord was preparing to bring judgment on Canada if an intercessor for the Land could not be found. She felt we should look for God's Aaron

When we arrived in Prince George Laura, the lady from the B&B, picked us up from the bus station and brought us to a beautiful safe and clean room. We ate a bit from our snack bag and just enjoyed what the Lord had done and then we took our time to shower and get clean.

When we finished we asked Laura if we could use her computer where we started blogging. She came to sit with us and from the conversation we learnt that she was a Spirit-filled believer, who has been walking faithfully with the Lord for more than 20 years. We had a wonderful time of sharing with many laughs and many tears of joy. She has been praying for revival in this town and region and she brought us a stone to take to Jerusalem! The gift and ministry the Lord gave us for her before we left New Jersey was also spot-on, strengthening all of our spirits with the great joy of the Lord!

Day 4 Whitehorse - night on the bus (20 July)

Written at B&B in Prince George (21 July)

At Breakfast we came to understand what the Lord had brought us to this B&B to see. Our host sat down with us at the table and in our conversation it transpired that he had fled from Iran as a young man for his faith... he is a Baha’i! He continued to enlighten us on the way this faith incorporates all the 9 main religions, and basically say that if you stick to their prophet's interpretation of how it all make sense, if you do their prayers and live a good and peaceful life, you will go to heaven. It was interesting to hear that this religion was started in Persia (Iran) in the 18hundreds. It seemed like the Lord exposed a Babylonian mindset that seemed to be over the town.

At the prayer meeting in Anchorage one of the ladies saw a vision of a fish (representing the nations) and a scale being lifted to reveal revelations beneath. We started to feel that we were looking at what was under the scales of Canada: everything goes, if you do, or do not have a faith doesn’t matter and what your faith is doesn't matter, as long as you kind of live a good life you will be ok after death.

After packing we had 3 hours before our bus's departure to find some-one to pray with. We asked the Lord to lead us, and found ourselves going to the local public library. Jansie felt to look for a Native American. On entering the library there was only one person matching this description, but when we asked her if she was a Christian she said she wasn't. So we wondered around in the building wondering what to do now, until Rene called us to a lady at a certain desk. By the desk were hung 3 artworks of fishes, showing the scales clearly. We told the lady behind the desk that we were looking for a Christian, and to our surprise she walked off and called another lady, whom she said would be able to help us.

This lady looked a bit suspicious at first, but after we explained ourselves a bit, she relaxed a bit and said we are welcome to take a stone from Whitehorse. She then told us that she was a non-practicing Catholic and that she prayed in her own way. We left her in peace because she was working, but we later realized that the fact that she was willing to confess Jesus under the pressure of the public office situation, must really count for something in the spirit, especially since the first two women we asked were not willing to say they are Christians.

We went from there and caught the Grey Hound bus that would be our home for the next 27 hours. The bus wasn't full and we each had 2 seats to ourselves. It stopped frequently at funny little joints where we always found good toilets, and once the most awesome hamburgers! The landscape was spruce trees and lakes and mountains and pines and rivers - all very very beautiful and very much the same over thousands of kilometers (boring Rene's eyes a bit).

Day 3 Anchorage, Alaska to Whitehorse Canada (19 July)

Written at B&B in Prince George (21 July)

We woke up to a rainy day in Anchorage and Sue drove us to the bus stop in the camper while we scuttled around to finish packing. We arrived a bit early, and after making ourselves known to the driver of the bus we sat in camper eating our breakfast of English muffins while we enjoyed Sue and her girls for one last time. It is amazing how God's family can just know one another and connect in a deep way even though we only met 36 hours before. It was hard to say goodbuy to this special family from Nondalton, and our heart were filled with gratitude.

The 18 hour bus ride to Anchorage to Whitehorse was a joyfull experience in the little Alaska Direct bus that reminded of a schoolbus. Don, our first driver, started off by scaring us with his jokes about alcohol and his love for wild music, but his teddybear nature and warm Alascan sence of humour soon put us at ease. He made sure we were aware of everything worth seeing by the side of the road, from glaciers to cristal clear rivers.

We got a new driver at Tok. He was a Canadian who grew up in the Yukon on the border to Alaska in a town called Beaver Creek. He told us a lot about the history of the area. When we crossed the border into Canada we had a short break at Beaver Creek where we prayed and felt to blow the shofar. The driver came to look for us and asked what we what made the sound. We explained that it was a shofar, and he asked if that was what they used to bring the walls of Jerico down? When we confirmed, he said he could feel that it had some "mistical power" and he encouraged us to do it again and gave us permission to take a stone from the town where he grew up.

We came into Whitehorse just after midnight, and the driver dropped us at the B&B where the kind host had stayed up to wait for us. He showed us to the room and to our shock we had the Egyptian room (as opposed to the Persian room, the Victorian room or the Yukon room) and we were to share the night with Ramses, King Tut, Neffertiti and all their gods. Cecilia felt very bad for making this booking, but we felt that the Lord had something He wanted to show us here. We prayed for protection and had a very good night in Egypt!

Day 2 Anchorage, Alaska (18 July)

(writing at the laundry in Anchorage at 8:30pm on 18 July)

Sue made us a delicious English breakfast in the camper in the parkinglot and we had a great time getting to know one-another. We then set out in the camper to discouver what the Lord had for us on this beautifull day in Anchorage.

First we drove out to a town called Wasilla where we met Regina, a friend of Sue's who live in Wasilla in summer. We discussed the nature of our journey with her, and she agreed to give us a stone. Toghether we walked to the Wasilla lake where she found a stone to go to Jerusalem with us. After returning to the camper we had a special time of ministry to Regina where we could bless her and pray for her as a representative of the body of Christ in Wasilla.

The afternoon had its own supprises! Near a town called Palmer, in a country-side home overlooking a breathtaking vista of snowcapped mountains, the Lord brought together a group of women who hardly knew each other, but were truly united in Spirit. We had an undescribable time of sharing, worship, prayer and fellowship. They blessed us with gifts and sent us with stones from there and from Summit Lake.

Afterwards we returned to Anchorage through breathtaking landscapes! Alaska is a most beautiful place! And here we are, using Sue's laptop, in the laundrette of a campsite where they have wi-fi - and melting my thermal underwear in the tumble drier.

Tomorrow 6am we depart by bus for Whitehorse, Canada, where we should arrive at midnight tomorrow night. Please pray for:
- provision for our needs (the Lord knows them before we do)
- complete healing for Rene (she is much better but not quite there yet)
- seed for the sowers (that the Lord would provide for us to be a blessing to the people we meet)
- open doors in Canada (Godly appointments in place and open to receive us)
- protection for us, our families, friends and staff, our animals, our things and our sources of income)
- blessing and protection for the people who blessed and received us allong the way.
- communication (that we would understand one-another clearly and be understood by the people we meet)

WH2- we opened the Western Highway yesterday in Wates, Alaska, overlooking the Bering Sea. Joined by the local Eskimo pastor! Now in Anchorage w believers.

Day 1 Wales, Alaska (17 July)

(writing at the laundry in Anchorage at 8:30pm on 18 July)

Our time in Wales was an amazing, wonderfull, powerfull, supernatural Spirit filled time that we will never forget. From the Eskimo village on the Bering Sea we could see tomorrow in Russia, only 60 miles away.

More details of the whole experience later. All we want to say is thank you for your prayers and support in the Spirit.

We opened the Highway with prayer on a mountain by Wales at 11am on the 17th. We had amazing favour with the people of the village and the Pastor climbed the mountain with us to lay the stones from Zion at the grave of the first missionary who died as martair in this town. We spent hours proclaiming scripture and praying for the Highway of the Lord to be opened from there, and for the sons of God to be revealed. We also prayed for revival, especially in Wales.

Later in the afternoon we flew to Anchorage via Nome. We had quite a scary flight, but the Lord helped us.

In Anchorage we met up with Sue and her daugters. They picked us up from the airport in their massive camper. We spent the night in the parking lot of a supermarket...God is good and very amazing!

Nome - Wales

(Blogging briefly in the public library at Nome)

We arrived safely at Nome after 3 flights amounting to a 18 hour journey from New Jersey yesterday. The weather was bleak, windy and very cold. Dana of the Bering Sea B&B picked us up from the airport.

At their house we had a wonderful time of sharing and they told us of the returning life at the local Lutheran congregation. They were amazed to hear about our mission and glad that they were the ones that got to open the door for us in Nome. They blessed us to take a stone from Nome.

We rested well and had our last proper shower before Anchorage - they tell us there is no running water in Wales... We did some gift shopping which Cecilia mailed home allong with her durty clothes and some of excess luggage she had. Rene parted with her hair dryer.

Prayer requests:
*Health (Rene has a cold with a very sore throat)
*Wisdom and discernment
*Protection for our families at home.
*Effective use of time.
*Unity.
*Peace to hear God's voice clearly in regards to Nome, Wales and Anchorage - Alaska.
