Day 18 Guatamala City - El Salvador (3 Aug)

(Written in Guatemala on 03 August 2009)

Hsun Yi left at 04:00 in the morning to catch her flight to the USA. Had good breakfast and will need to go and change money again before we leave at noon. PP that we catch the bus and that it doesnt cost more than expected.

All went fine with the bus and the border crossing. Jansie felt that the Lord has such a gentle affection for Guatemala, and that he is calling the little but violent nation of El Salvador to truely showthe saving power of the blood of Christ to the nations. She spent hours on the bus in an awareness of the angelic activity surrounding the Highway and the Light and Glory the Lord was pouring out of Heaven as he carried us allong on a wave of grace!

After reading about the dangers of downtown San Salvador we did not have much strength to look for some of the cheaper accommodation available and checked into the Hotel at the bus station where we got really good value for our money.

Day 17 Guatamala City & Antigua (2 Aug)

(Written in Guatemala on 03 August 2009)

Take taxi to bus to go to Antigua. Antigua is a very colonial, touristy and pretty little town. We and Hsun Yi our Taiwanese friend enjoy the scenery and have good local food and many long conversations. We learnt alot about Taiwan and shared some of the struggles that South Africa is facing. Back at the hotel Jansie told Hsun Yi about the mission and Jansie shared the whole story about the Highways. Hsun Yi thought it was amazing. We invited her to come and visit us in South Africa. It would be great to see her there.

Day 16 Tepachula to Guatamala City (1 Aug)

(Written in Tapachula on the border to Guatemala on 01 August 2009)

We are at the Internet Cafe across the street from the bus station. Just had a beautiful breakfast that we shares: one beurrito and one fruit salad, orange juice and coffee. We will travel to Guatemala City at 10:30 and we hope to sleep in Antigua that is close to a volcano tonight. Antigua is by estimation 60km from Guatemala City. PP for protection from loss of possesions and for health.

In Tapatchula a young Mexican named Israel led us to a Polish girl who lost her credit cards and did not have any means to get money for travel. We helped her with about R400 to get to the city from where she would fly. Isreal could speak English, Jansie explained the mission to him and he gave a stone and Jansie prayed for him. Inside the busterminal we meet Taiwanese girl on the way to Guatemala City that can speak English well and a bit of Spanish. She joined us. The bus breaks and we realise that we cant make it to Antigua and have to sleep in the alledged crime centre of Guatemala City. After walking around for a bit we find a hotel that is clean and comfortable.

Day 15 Mexico City - Tepachula (31 July)

(Written in Tapachula on the border to Guatemala on 01 August 2009)

Woke up, shower and reakfast. Took a long walk along the park lane to the large park in Mexico City. Was beautiful. Hurried back to take the Metro to the bus station and then, after buying provisions, boarded the bus at 12:55. Had long chat till 2:00 am on bus between Jansie and Eugenie, about life the universe and everything. Slept.
